HD6-ENB Lighting Enhancment - Dark Nights by HeliosDoubleSix

Thanks to Boris Vorontsov who made ENB and this this possible, he has special powers

Pick one of the 'Install Contents' folders and copy the contents to your Skyrim folder, not your Data folder.

We have a Normal Nights version which keeps caves and nights relative the same to normal game. It works out a bit darker and more contrast.

And Darker Nights version which.. does what you expect. Bring a torch with this one and think twice about frolicking thru the forest during a pitch black night.

Note for Ambient Occlusion and perhaps other things to look right you need to set bFloatPointRenderTarget (in skyrimprefs.ini) to 1

Note you can interchange the versions and edit the settings by just changing the enbseries.ini and enbeffect.fx file. While the game is still running, pop back in and see the change instantly. And you can toggle it off entirely with Shift-F12 to see the game before this was installed.

If you have slow machine or you dont like the flickery black and white blurry glitches in the distance in fog that is SSAO, you can disable that be setting:
EnableAmbientOcclusion=false
However then you may get glitches with red eyes. You can keep SSAo enabled and set all its values to 0 to fix the eyes and hide the SSAO effect, though it will still use up fps.

If you suffer from BSOD system crashes then try setting this in Enbseries.ini: AntiBSOD=true

Don't forget to play with the brightness setting in Skyrim itself of course as these will easily for many be either too dark or too light, so adjust accordingly on your monitor, in the game in your GPU config and lastly in the ENB settings :-)
If some interiors are a bit too dark have a torch ready :-) note If you give your companion one when you holster she gets her torch out, Dog cannot do this sadly ;-P

Do not set brightness in game past half way if possible, it appears to have terrible implementation and will cause all kinds of weird color banding and weirdness that gets worse as it gets brighter from in game control, if you need it brighter it is best to tweak the enb settings. Note I have my skyrim brightness 1 notch above middle, monitor at max before it starts to loose contrast and kill blacks, such that it is painful to browse the web on that brightness.

If the glaryness of bright light sources is bugging you out, changed its settings under CAMERAFX in enbseries.ini

To tweak brightness of day / night look at these in Enbseries.ini
Also in the Enbeffect.fx file look at these: EAdaptationMinV2, EAdaptationMaxV2
Though many other options affect this too

Inside 'Other Optionl Gear' are some Palette Map files, these allow you to change te overall look or color/brightness tint at different times of day. These are very powerful to change the look, potentially in crazy stupid ways :-)

Basic if not only difference between the Darker Night and Normal Night versions is the palette map

// Known Problems - Mos need fixing by Boris in ENB, not much I can do

// Most if not all Caves are actually uplit using the same light source type as the Sun/Moon So if you increase lighting for moon/sun outside you get bright ceilings in caves... !!!
// Some very bright places still blow out, I have hacked in a very crappy bit of shader code to reduce that but it destroys the color you get these grey patches like snow, my understanding of shaders is extremely.. none existent. I also cannot do any post on the bloom seperate from the Lens Glare/CAMERAFX as they are combined out of sight.
// Frost trolls, icycles glow in the night if you use SubSurfaceScatteringMultiplierNight to high :-D not really a bug, but be aware
// Water foam goes over bright if you set fire to be bright
// Sky directly above tends to go Cyan/Green at top so I have set its curve high making it deep blue, though in some cases this will look black or very dark and look odd

// Hot springs at night are bright blue at certain time of night!?
// Ice Caves go very over bright in places as its all blue/white ice in the view and it gets a dose of lens bloom due to the decreased threshold I have had to set for it to work. Would be nice if everything could have its 'bloom' brightness set seperately from is actual brightness.
// Tonemapping (pseudo) is done thru the bloom effect, which means you cant have nice tonemapping of overbright values without also having bloom; which will also make things hazy/blurry. These should be seperated really but that is beyond me.
// Bloom will give black objects a dirty black glow around them (may be original vanilla game doing this actually)
// Clouds in Map to cover over permiter of map are transparent, and show weird shading of terrain underneath
// SSAO looks bad in caves with denser fog, actually semes ok in most cases now.
// Keeping contrast in the sky is really tough, bloom just likes to just smudge all over it also killing any bright white spots such as the sun itself.
// Sun is hard to get bright without it spreading over the whole sky. Setting corona bright causes noise and bleh.
// You can see things thru the surface of water especially at night, and see the SSAO also
// Sometimes things go beyond black and rollaround and invert, this may be what making water see thru also or at leats makes it even uglier. I have now fixed this happening with bloom with enbeffects
// turning SSAO off causes problems with red/black eyes
// Altering Fog brightness and volumetricfog is pointless as it causes too many problems elsewhere.. this may be improved now
// Night and day changes are broken inside buildings/caves, its hit or miss whether it works or makes any sense if it does work, ie a cave may be darker at night than in the day even with no light source from the sun, and a building with windows may be the same day and night. Seems better now for some reason? maybe changed in ENB 1101

// you are welcome to do anything you like with it, original usage rights still belong to Boris though of course, giving credit and link to my mod and Boris's orignal would be appreciated, thanks!
